Health Star Academy's CDPH-approved Online CNA Program offers the perfect blend of flexibility and hands-on training.  Through our hybrid format, students complete online coursework at their own pace while gaining real-world experience at one of our three clinical training sites -- one in Lodi and two in Stockton- with additional Bay Area locations coming soon.

Program Details 

Our Nurse Assistant Training Program (NATP) consists of 160 total hours, including 60 hours of classroom instruction and 100 hours of hands-on clinical training. This comprehensive course is approved by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

To be eligible for the California State Certification Exam, students must attend all required classes and achieve a minimum passing score of 70% or higher.

This program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to begin a successful career as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).


Hybrid Education Model: Theory Instruction - Online
Clinical Instruction at Local nursing facilities.

Class Schedule Options


We offer flexible scheduling to meet your needs, whether you prefer weekday or weekend training.

Daytime Program

  • Classroom: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Clinical: Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Duration: Approximately 23 days (about 6 weeks)


Weekend Program

  • Theory and Clinical: Saturdays and Sundays, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM

  • Duration: Approximately 18 days (about 9 weeks)

Clinical Training & Instruction

Hands-on clinical training is a required part of our CNA program and is conducted at approved local healthcare facilities. This real-world experience allows students to apply classroom knowledge in a supervised patient care setting.

Clinical hours are held at one of the following locations:

  • Meadowood Health and Rehabilitation Center – Stockton, CA

  • Lodi Creek Post-Acute – Lodi, CA

Online Theory and In-Person Clinical Training

Enrollment Requirements

  • Physical Government Issued ID (Driver's License, CA ID card, Passport, Green Card)

  • Must Pass Criminal Background Check (Live Scan)
  • Proof of good health (physical examination, PPD TB Test or Chest X-ray clearance by a healthcare provider.
  • GED/ High School Diploma (preferred but not required)
  • Pass Entrance Exam with 70% should you not have a  GED/High School Diploma.

To use our online systems, a student must have a computer with the following:

  • 2 GHz processor or faster
  • High-speed internet connection with minimum upload and download speeds of 3 Mbps
  • 2 GB RAM or greater
  • 32 GB system storage or larger
  • Built-in or external speakers. Hard-wired or Bluetooth speakers are acceptable.

  •  Any computer manufactured within the last 10   years will be able to access our learning   management system.
  • Android and iPhone users can assess the learning management system via an app
  • Latest version of Google Chrome

  • Minimum Resolution: HD 720p
  • Video must be on throughout class time with   exception to class breaks.
  • Students must mute and turn off camera on   scheduled breaks.

REQUIRED COURSEWORK

The Online NATP prepares students to sit for the certified nursing assistant’s exam. Nurse aides are responsible for helping patients with activities of daily living, assisting with personal hygiene, maintaining a safe, clean environment, and communicating vital health information about a patient’s condition to other medical staff who supervise their work. Students in this program should expect to attend 60 hours of interactive lectures via Zoom, frequent homework assignments, individual projects, and case presentations. Student should be prepared to attend all 100 clinical hours in person.

Course Requirements Graduation

Grades evaluation will be separate for classroom, lab and clinicals. Classroom  evaluation will consist of 9 written tests and a final written exam. The class grade will be the average of all tests and the final exam. Lab practice and clinical will be a Pass/Fail system based on performance observation by the instructor. Students must receive an overall course grade of 70% in order to pass the course and receive a certificate of completion to take the state exam to become a nurse aide.
